Loyola vs. Nevada Pick
Which Cinderella story will continue in the 2018 NCAA Tournament when No. 7 Nevada meets up with No. 11 Loyola in the South Region semifinal tonight at 7:07PM ET?
Thursday, March 22, 2018
Location: Philips Arena, Atlanta, Georgia
TV: CBS, 7:07PM ET
The spread opened with Nevada as a 2-point favorite against Loyola. The spread climbed to a high of 3 points before falling back to 1.5 points today. The over/under total opened at 143.5 points and bounced around between 143 and 144 all week.
PUBLIC BETTING INFORMATION
The public is Nevada tonight. As of Thursday morning, the Wolf Pack getting 60 percent of the wagers on this game as the slight favorite.
Loyola comes into this game healthy, with nobody listed on the injury report. Nevada has guard Lindsey Drew out due to an Achilles injury he suffered in February. Drew averages 8.1 points, 4.1 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game when active.
Nevada has picked up wins over Texas and Cincinnati thus far, covering as underdogs in both cases. Loyola defeated Miami and Tennessee, also covering as underdogs in both games.
The Retrievers are on a 10-game winning streak right now while covering in their last four games. They certainly aren’t playing with a lack of confidence right now. Nevada has had to put up large comebacks in both of their games to win, including a 22-point comeback against Cincinnati in the second half.
There is something to really like about this Loyola team. The Retrievers aren’t intimidated and they are playing well on defense. They are holding their last five opponents to just 55.4 per contest. While Nevada can shoot, it has to shoot well to win, as its defense isn’t strong enough to overcome poor shooting. I think Loyola can keep them in check. The Retrievers are 21-9-1 against the spread this season and 14-4-1 ATS away from home. I think Loyola gets it done again tonight.
