Gators fall in controversial fashion

Florida lost by a 65-62 count in the Southeastern Conference Tournament semifinals to Auburn last Friday as its potential game-tying 3-point attempt involved what appeared to be a lot of contact from Tigers players but no call was made. The Gators (19-15) were outscored 35-28 in the second half of the loss. Florida shot 23-of-38 from the field, 6-of-15 from 3-point range plus 10-of-12 at the free throw line. Kevarrius Hayes paced the Gators with 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting plus 4-of-5 at the free throw line. He also recorded 12 rebounds plus two blocked shots. Jalen Hudson added 16 points, four boards and four assists.

Wolf Pack upset by Aztecs

Nevada lost to San Diego State Friday night by a count of 65-56 in the Mountain West Tournament semifinals to fall to 29-4 on the season. The Wolf Pack trailed 34-29 at halftime and were unable to recover. Cody Martin led Nevada with 16 points on 7-of-16 shooting including 2-of-7 from 3-point distance. He also pulled down six rebounds. Tre'Shawn Thurman added 11 points, 11 boards and two blocked shots. The Wolf Pack shot 22-of-58 from the floor, 6-of-24 from 3-point range plus 6-of-13 at the charity stripe.

It is facing a strong Florida team here, but the Gators struggled to win big games against a lot of opponents in the SEC. Look for the Wolf Pack to find a way to carve out this win through efficient offense and strong defense. The Wolf Pack simply have more playmakers on their roster.
