BYU vs. Oregon Odds


MILWAUKEE, WI (TheSpread) – Two west coast teams collide today in the NCAA Tournament as No. 7 Oregon faces No. 10 BYU in the West Region at 3:10PM ET on truTV.

Both teams got at-large bids into the tournament. BYU was 23-11 this season out of the West Coast Conference, while Oregon was 23-9 overall and is out of the Pac-12. According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Oregon is the favorite in this game, as the Ducks have odds of -5.5 points against the Cougars. The over/under total for the game has been set at 158 points (View Matchup). These two met on Dec. 21 with Oregon getting a 100-96 OT win at home.

Oregon was 17-11-3 against the spread this season while hitting the over 16 times. The Ducks made a strong run to end the season, winning eight straight before losing to UCLA in the Pac-12 Tournament. The Ducks are 11th in the nation in scoring, averaging 81.8 points per game. They also rank 22nd in 3-point shooting at 39.1 percent. However, Oregon does struggle on defense, giving up 74 points per contest. Oregon is being led by Joseph Young, who averages 18.6 points per game.

BYU was just 13-18 against the spread on the season while hitting the under 17 times. BYU won 10 of its last 12 games this season. Like Oregon, BYU has a very strong offense, averaging 84.2 points per game, which ranks third in the country. BYU is also fifth in the nation in rebounds, grabbing 41.2 per contest. On defense, BYU gives up a lofty 77 points per game. BYU has four players averaging double figures in scoring, with Tyler Haws leading the team, averaging 23.4 points per contest. Haws shoots an impressive 41.1 percent from 3-point land.
