The top seed of the 2019 NCAA Tournament is in the East Region. Is Duke the runaway favorite to win this region and advance to the Final Four?

According to oddsmakers at BetNow.eu, Duke is the clear favorite, as the Blue Devils are getting odds of -175 to win. Other short odds to win are Michigan State (+375), LSU (+1000) and Virginia Tech (+1400).

Duke

Duke is the No. 1 overall seed in the tournament and the top seed in this region. The Blue Devils come into the tournament with a 29-5 record while going 14-4 in the ACC. Duke did lose most of their games without freshman phenom Zion Williamson, who returned to action this past weekend as Duke won the ACC Tournament. Duke has reached the Final Four 16 times, last doing so in 2015.

Michigan State

The Spartans are the second seed in this region. MSU was the Big Ten champ in the regular season and won the tournament title as well. Michigan State is 28-6 on the season and 16-4 in Big Ten games. MSU has reached the Final Four nine times in program history. The last time they did was 2015.

LSU

LSU is the third seed in the East Region. The Tigers won the SEC title in the regular season with a 26-6 record overall and 16-2 record in the SEC. LSU currently has head coach Will Wade suspended due to an investigation over a potential recruiting violation. LSU has reached the Final Four four times in program history, last doing so in 2006.

Virginia Tech

Virginia Tech is the fourth seed in the East region. The Hokies finished fifth in the ACC this season, going 24-8 overall with a 12-6 conference record. Tech does own a win over Duke this season. The Hokies have never reached the Final Four in program history and last reached the Sweet 16 in 1967.
