Falcons hold off Huskies
Bowling Green picked up a 71-67 victory Friday night against Northern Illinois to advance to the MAC Tournament championship game. The Falcons led 46-23 at halftime before holding off a big Huskies rally after the break. Bowling Green shot 23-of-53 from the floor, 8-of-19 from 3-point distance plus 17-of-26 at the free throw line. Dylan Frye led the Falcons with 25 points on 7-of-14 shooting including 4-of-8 from 3-point distance plus 7-of-8 at the free throw line. He also grabbed two rebounds. Justin Turner contributed 14 points, three boards and two dimes. Daeqwon Plowdon added 12 points and eight rebounds.
Bulls edge Chippewas
Buffalo earned an 85-81 victory Friday over upset-minded Central Michigan to move on to the MAC Tourney title game. The Bulls outscored the Chippewas 48-39 in the second half after trailing by five at halftime. Buffalo shot 31-of-66 from the field, 6-of-32 from 3-point range plus 17-of-24 at the free throw line. C.J. Massinburg paced the Bulls with 21 points on 5-of-17 shooting including 3-of-11 from 3-point distance plus 8-of-10 at the charity stripe. He also notched nine rebounds, two assists and two blocked shots. Davonta Jordan tallied 16 points, seven boards, two assists and two steals. Nick Perkins had 14 points, nine rebounds and two assists off the bench. Jeremy Harris registered 12 points, five caroms and three assists. Dontay Caruthers added 11 points, four rebounds and two assists as a reserve.

Prediction:
The Bulls haven’t been covering many spreads lately, but the fact of the matter is they are on an 11-game winning streak. They’ll want to advance to the NCAA Tournament on a strong note and while a loss would make the MAC a two-bid league, I certainly don’t see it happening here. Buffalo is too strong and deep to allow Bowling Green thoughts of an upset. In fact, I think the Bulls will win by double digits and cover this spread. Central Michigan was a scare, but don’t expect another.
