Hawkeyes end skid
Iowa picked up an 83-62 win over Illinois last night to snap a four-game losing streak while ending an 8-game failed cover streak. Iowa is the 6 seed in this tournament. The Hawkeyes are 22-10 on the season, 11-10 in Big Ten games, 4-0 on a neutral court, 13-19 against the spread and 16-16 with the over/under total.
The Hawkeyes are putting up 79.1 points per game on offense this season while shooting 45.8 percent as a team. Defensively, Iowa is giving up 73.6 points per game while opponents shoot 44.8 percent against them. Tyler Cook is putting up 14.9 points and 8.0 rebounds per game to lead the team while Luka Garza is adding 12.8 points and 4.4 rebounds per contest.
Wolverines coming off loss
Michigan is the 3 seed this weekend and coming off a 75-63 loss at Michigan State last Saturday. The Wolverines are 26-5 on the season, 15-5 in Big Ten games, 2-0 on a neutral floor, 17-14 against the spread and 17-13 with the under.
The Wolverines have one of the top defensive teams in the nation, as they are giving up 58.8 points per game while holding opponents to 40.1 percent shooting. Offensively, Michigan is putting up 70.4 points per contest while shooting 44.9 percent as a team. Guard Charles Matthews is questionable to play tonight due to an ankle injury. Matthews averages 12.8 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. Ignas Brazdeikis is leading the team with 15.0 points and 5.3 rebounds per contest.
College Basketball Betting Trends
Iowa
The Hawkeyes are 1-8 against the spread in their last nine Big Ten games, but 9-0 ATS in their last nine neutral-site games.
Michigan
The Wolverines are 13-3 against the spread in their last 16 games following a loss and 38-18-4 ATS in their last 60 neutral-site games.
Prediction:
Iowa dominated Michigan in the first meeting, 74-59 at home, back on Feb. 1. However, the Hawkeyes haven’t looked very good as of late. They did dominate Illinois last night, but Michigan is a much better team. The Wolverines have a good defense and they are coming off a humbling loss to Michigan State. Outside of two losses to MSU, Michigan has handled their last four opponents. I think the Wolverines defense will keep Iowa from putting up big points while the Wolverines will hit some outside shots against a lackluster Iowa defense.
College Basketball Prediction: Michigan -8
