Horned Frogs survive versus Cowboys
Texas Christian held off a second-half comeback attempt Wednesday night against Oklahoma State as it won 73-70 in its Big 12 Tournament opener. The Horned Frogs (20-12) led 45-29 at halftime in the must-win game before holding on late. Texas Christian shot 27-of-56 from the floor, 10-of-22 from 3-point range plus 9-of-16 at the free throw line. Kouat Noi led the Horned Frogs with 20 points on 7-of-14 shooting including 4-of-7 from 3-point distance plus 2-of-3 at the free throw line. He also notched seven rebounds, three assists and two steals. Desmond Bane tallied 15 points, seven boards, four steals and three assists. Kevin Samuel accounted for 14 points and nine rebounds. Alex Robinson added 12 points, eight dimes and six rebounds.
Wade to miss Big 12 Tourney
Kansas State is likely to be without senior forward Dean Wade in the Big 12 Tournament as he is recovering from an injury. Wade played Saturday night as the Wildcats (24-7, 14-4) clinched a share of the conference championship with a 68-53 home win over Oklahoma. Kansas State led 32-22 at halftime on its way to the win. Kamau Stokes paced the Wildcats with 19 points on 7-of-15 shooting including 4-of-10 from 3-point distance plus 1-of-2 at the free throw line. He also accounted for six assists and two rebounds. Barry Brown Jr. tallied 14 points, four assists and three steals. Wade added 11 points, seven caroms, four dimes and two blocked shots. Kansas State shot 26-of-58 from the floor, 9-of-29 from 3-point range plus 7-of-17 at the free throw line.
College Basketball Betting Trends
Texas Christian
The Horned Frogs are 20-8 ATS in their last 28 neutral site games. TCU is 1-4 ATS in its last five games overall.
Kansas State
The Wildcats are 4-0 ATS in their last four neutral site games. Kansas State is 12-3-1 ATS in its last 16 games overall.
Prediction:
The Horned Frogs struggled twice in two losses to KSU this season, scoring a total of 107 points over two games. I don’t think much will change here with TCU having tired legs after holding off the Oklahoma State rally attempt. The absence of Wade will hurt, but Kansas State has enough around him to offset his skills especially for at least one game.
