Cyclones drop third straight

Iowa State watched Texas Tech clinch the Big 12 title Saturday afternoon on its home floor as it fell 80-73 to end the regular season with a 20-11 overall record and 9-9 in conference action. The Cyclones were outscored 46-37 in the second half of the loss. Iowa State shot 24-of-54 from the field, 8-of-19 from 3-point range plus 17-of-26 at the free throw line. Marial Shayok paced the Cyclones with 17 points on 6-of-13 shooting including 4-of-8 from 3-point distance plus 1-of-2 from the free throw line. He also dished out two assists. Lindell Wigginton tallied 17 points, seven boards and four assists off the bench. Michael Jacobson accounted for 15 points, six caroms and two assists. Talen Horton-Tucker added 13 points plus two rebounds and two assists as a reserve.

Bears fall at Jayhawks

Baylor lost a third consecutive game Saturday with a 76-70 decision at Kansas to finish the regular season at 19-12 overall and 10-8 in the conference. The Bears were outscored 46-41 in the second half as the hosts put it away. Baylor shot 24-of-61 from the floor, 6-of-31 from 3-point range plus 16-of-24 at the free throw line. Jared Butler led the way with 31 points on 10-of-21 shooting including 3-of-10 from 3-point range plus 8-of-10 at the charity stripe. He also racked up six rebounds and three assists. Mario Kegler tallied 11 points and six rebounds. Devonte Bandoo added 10 points and three boards off the bench.

Iowa State is the more talented team overall and should be able to find a way to get over the hump against Baylor this time. Take the favorites.
