Fighting Irish snap seven-game skid
Notre Dame opened ACC Tournament play Tuesday afternoon with a 78-71 victory over Georgia Tech to end its seven-game losing streak. The Fighting Irish (14-18) led 52-32 at halftime on their way to the triumph. Notre Dame shot 27-of-57 from the field, 8-of-14 from 3-point range plus 16-of-23 at the free throw line. John Mooney paced the Fighting Irish with 20 points on 9-of-17 shooting including 2-of-3 from 3-point range. He also contributed 10 rebounds and three assists. Dane Goodwin tallied 15 points, five boards and two assists. Nate Laszewski had 14 points and four caroms. Juwan Durham added 12 points, five rebounds and four blocked shots off the bench.
Cardinals fall at Cavaliers
Louisville covered the spread, but were unable to complete the upset victory Saturday at Virginia with a 73-68 loss to complete the regular season. The Cardinals (19-12, 10-8) trailed 36-33 at halftime and could not get over the hump after the break. Louisville shot 23-of-56 from the field, 9-of-25 from 3-point range plus 13-of-17 at the free throw line. Jordan Nwora led the Cardinals with 19 points on 7-of-16 shooting including 3-of-7 from 3-point distance plus 2-of-2 at the free throw line. He also tallied six rebounds. Malik Williams accounted for 12 points and six boards. Dwayne Sutton contributed 10 points and six rebounds. Christen Cunningham added 10 points, four caroms and two dimes.
College Basketball Betting Trends
Notre Dame
The Fighting Irish are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games versus a team with a winning percentage above .600. Notre Dame is 6-20 ATS in its last 26 games following an ATS win.
Louisville
The Cardinals are 1-5 ATS in their last six Wednesday games. Louisville is 2-6 ATS in its last eight neutral site games.
Prediction:
Louisville is only 3-7 straight up since the start of February and needs to play well in the ACC Tournament to get back on the right track. I like the Cardinals to get it rolling today as during their poor stretch, they really only had one loss against a poor opponent and did ease past Notre Dame only 10 days ago. Look for Louisville to lean on its strong defense and find enough offense to pull away in the second half.
