Demon Deacons fall to Seminoles

Wake Forest suffered a 65-57 home loss Saturday against Florida State to complete the regular season with an 11-19 record overall and 4-14 in the ACC. The Demon Deacons were outscored 41-26 in the second half after leading by seven at halftime. Wake Forest shot 16-of-61 from the floor, 3-of-17 from 3-point distance plus 22-of-29 at the free throw line. Brandon Childress led the Demon Deacons with 13 points on 5-of-16 shooting plus 3-of-3 at the free throw line. He also pulled down five rebounds. Chaundee Brown tallied 11 points and nine boards. Isaiah Mucius added 10 points and five caroms.

Hurricanes upended by Hokies

Miami lost by a count of 84-70 Friday night at Virginia Tech to drop to 13-17 overall and 5-13 in conference action. The Hurricanes trailed 45-31 at halftime and were unable to recover. Ebuka Ozundu led Miami with 16 points on perfect 8-of-8 shooting. He also tallied four rebounds, three assists and two blocked shots. Chris Lykes also scored 16 points to go with nine dimes, three boards and three steals. Anthony Lawrence II accounted for 15 points, 11 rebounds and three assists. Zach Johnson added 14 points and two assists. The Hurricanes shot 27-of-59 from the field, 6-of-29 from 3-point range plus 10-of-14 at the free throw line.

College Basketball Betting Trends

Wake Forest

The Demon Deacons are 4-0 ATS in their last four neutral site games. Wake Forest is 10-25 ATS in its last 35 ACC games.

Miami

The Hurricanes are 1-7 ATS in their last eight neutral site games. Miami is 1-4-1 ATS in the last six meetings.

Prediction:

The Demon Deacons lost 76-65 at Miami back on January 12, but won 76-75 at home February 26 in the rematch. The spread here doesn't surprise me, but it does look like Wake Forest is making late-season improvements and I'm not sure the Hurricanes are good enough to justify a 7-point spread. Losing to Duke by one on the road and being an unlucky roll off the rim from winning turned heads. The Demon Deacons didn't play poorly versus FSU either, aside from struggling to shoot. If Wake Forest can hit a few more shots today, it should stay within this number.
