Wildcats want revenge vs. Ducks
Will Las Vegas be able to contain the virtuoso scoring styles of Arizona and Oregon when the two Pac-12 rivals square off at 9 p.m. ET?
On Jan. 28, the offense ran amok in Tucson. The visiting Ducks’ stunning 83-75 victory snapped the Wildcats’ epic 49-game home winning streak.
Think that result influenced online sports book Bovada.lv as it evaluated tonight’s matchup in the Pac-12 tournament? Apparently not. Arizona still comes into the contest as a 1.5-point favorite, with the over/under set at 152 points.
Credit the Wildcats’ tour-de-force showing in last year’s conference title game for continuing to reverberate with pundits everywhere. By smashing the Ducks on the big stage, Arizona completed a three-game sweep in the season series by 80 points.
Oregon, of course, simply feels like a vastly different unit this time around. Its bigs just outrebounded Washington 46-33, with a resounding 17-8 edge on the offensive glass.
Even so, leading scorer Dillon Brooks hasn’t been able to shake a late-season funk. He has been limited to 11.0 points on 34.3 percent shooting over the last three tilts.
The Wildcats’ pressure should exacerbate those problems. They’ve also got revenge on the brain, and there’s no better venue to serve comeuppance.
