Big East Championship Prediction: Can Villanova cover 13.5 vs. Providence?

Can Villanova roll to a Big East Tournament Championship on Saturday, March 10, 2018 when it takes on Providence at 6:30PM ET? Here’s our prediction for the contest.

535 Providence +13.5 vs. 536 Villanova

According to oddsmakers at YouWager, Villanova is the heavy favorite tonight, as the Wildcats are getting odds of -13.5 points against Providence. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 147 points. Tonight’s game takes place from Madison Square Garden in New York, New York and will air live on FOX.

Providence has managed to work through the tournament despite being an underdog in each of its two games this week. The Friars have upset Creighton and Xavier to get here. Providence is 21-12 overall and 13-18 against the spread. They also are 4-1 on a neutral floor. The Friars are averaging 73.9 points per game on offense while allowing 72.6 per game defensively. Rodney Bullock is leading the team with 14.2 points and 5.9 rebounds per game while Alpha Diallo is adding 12.7 points and 6.5 rebounds per contest.

Villanova has been rolling this week, beating Marquette by 24 points and beating Butler by 19 to reach the final. The Wildcats are 29-4 overall and 22-11 against the spread this season. Nova is 8-0 on a neutral floor as well. The Wildcats are averaging 87.4 points per game on offense while allowing 71 per game on defense. Jalen Brunson is putting up 19 points and 4.7 assists per game to lead the team while Mikal Bridges is adding 17.8 points and 5.5 rebounds per contest.

Bet on College Basketball for Saturday, March 10, 2018

These two split their two meetings this season, with the home team winning in each instance. Providence has actually covered the spread in four of their last five against Villanova. While the Wildcats have looked great this week, they are giving up a lot of points in a conference championship game to a team it has already lost straight up to. Nova has looked great the last two nights, but so has Providence. The Friars have had a much tougher road to tonight and I think they will be able to make this game competitive. The public betting is slightly with Providence as well.
