Tennessee vs. Vanderbilt Prediction
Even though Vanderbilt swept Tennessee during the regular season can the Vols compete with the Commodores when the rivals meet today at 3:00PM ET?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book BetDSI, Vanderbilt is an 11-point favorite over Tennessee for this afternoon's SEC tournament matchup. As for the total, the number opened at 148 and that's where it currently sits.
The Commodores handled the Volunteers on January 20, leaving Knoxville with an 88-74 victory in a game that wasn't as close as the final score would indicate. Vanderbilt then thrashed Tennessee 86-69 in Nashville on March 1 to sweep the regular-season series between the two teams.
But Kentucky, South Carolina and LSU all left Knoxville with losses this season and Tennessee nearly beat Texas A&M as well. Granted, those games were all at home but it shows the Vols' ability to be a thorn in the side of better opponents.
While Vanderbilt will provide a difficult challenge today, the Vols are 5-0 against the spread in their last five games after scoring more than 90 points in their previous contest. The Commodores' size will once again present an obstacle for the Volts, but they should keep the game within single digits.
