Parham leads VMI to win

Virginia Military Institute earned a 96-83 victory over Western Carolina Friday night to open Southern Conference Tournament play. The Keydets (11-20) outscored the Catamounts 55-44 in the second half to secure the win. VMI shot 28-of-58 from the floor, 15-of-29 from 3-point range and 25-of-30 from the free throw line. Bubba Parham paced the Keydets with a career-high 41 points on 9-of-16 shooting including 6-of-8 shooting plus 17-of-18 at the free throw line. He also notched five rebounds and three assists. Sarju Patel contributed 22 points and three rebounds. Garrett Gilkeson added 12 points, six boards, four assists and two steals.

Terriers win 17th straight

Wofford raced past host Samford by a count of 85-64 score last Saturday to finish the regular season with its 17th straight win. The Terriers (26-4, 18-4) outscored the hosts 54-35 in the second half to pull away. Wofford shot 32-of-66 from the floor, 14-of-30 from 3-point range plus 7-of-8 at the free throw line. Fletcher Magee led the Terriers with 36 points on 13-of-21 shooting including 8-of-14 from 3-point range plus 2-of-2 at the free throw line. He added four rebounds, four assists and three steals. Nathan Hoover added 17 points in 29 minutes of action.

College Basketball Betting Trends

VMI

The Keydets are 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall. VMI is 5-16 ATS in its last 21 neutral site games.

Wofford

The Terriers are 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall. Wofford is 4-1 ATS in its last five neutral site games.

Prediction:

Wofford has an elite offense and I can't see any way a lousy VMI squad on tired legs can keep up. The Terriers won by 14 on the road and 11 at home against the Keydets during the regular season, but today's spread will likely be around 20 when its set. Go with Wofford as long as the spread is under 21. A backdoor cover is always possible as the Terriers will want to save their legs, but a team as good as Wofford has some solid depth so the bench should be able to continue a high level of play. Bet on Wofford today in blowout fashion.
