Commodores stay winless in SEC
Vanderbilt lost by a count of 84-48 at home Wednesday night against Arkansas to drop to 9-21 overall and 0-17 in the Southeastern Conference. The Commodores were outscored 55-23 in the second half of the rout. Vanderbilt shot 16-of-54 from the floor, 6-of-27 from 3-point range plus 10-of-16 at the free throw line. Aaron Nesmith was the lone Commodores player in double figures for scoring as he finished with 11 points on 4-of-13 shooting including 1-of-8 from 3-point distance plus 2-of-2 at the free throw line. He also pulled down six rebounds.
Tigers down Gators in OT
After an overtime loss last month at home versus Florida, LSU exacted some revenge Wednesday night with a 79-78 OT win at the Gators. The Tigers were outscored 41-38 in the second half, but outscored the Gators 7-6 in overtime. Tremont Waters led LSU with 19 points off the bench on 8-of-16 shooting including 2-of-4 from 3-point range plus 1-of-2 at the free throw line. He also accounted for six assists, three rebounds and three steals. Javonte Smart tallied 15 points, four boards and three assists. Emmitt Williams had 13 points and 14 boards as a reserve. Skylar Mays added 11 points, two rebounds and two steals. Louisiana State shot 31-of-72 from the floor, 6-of-19 from 3-point range plus 11-of-16 at the free throw line.
College Basketball Betting Trends
Vanderbilt
The Commodores are 4-1 ATS in their last five road games. Vanderbilt is 1-6 ATS in its last seven Saturday games.
LSU
The Tigers are 4-0 ATS in their last four games overall. Louisiana State is 18-7-2 ATS in its last 27 SEC games.
Prediction:
Despite the suspension of their head coach, Louisiana State should roll here with an intact and deep roster. It also helps the Tigers are playing the hapless Commodores. Look for Vanderbilt to look a little bit like the team that was embarrassed in the second half against the Razorbacks earlier this week. While that would be an extreme, don't expect Vandy to keep up here.
