FSU struggling to cover lately
Florida State has won three straight and nine of its last 10 following a 73-64 overtime win over Virginia Tech, but the Seminoles are just 1-3 against the spread in their last four games. Florida State is 24-6 on the year, 12-5 in the ACC, 5-4 on the road, 14-15-1 against the spread and 15-13-2 with the under.
The Seminoles are putting up 76.2 points per game on offense while shooting 44.7 percent as a team. Defensively, FSU is giving up 67.7 points per game while limiting opponents to just 41.1 percent shooting. Mfiondu Kabengele is leading the team with 13.3 points and 5.6 rebounds per game while Terance Mann is adding 11.6 points and 6.3 rebounds per contest.
Wake edged by Duke
Wake Forest is coming off a 71-70 loss at Duke this week as a 24.5-point underdog on the road. The Deacons have lost five of their last seven games, going 3-4 against the spread in those seven contests. Wake is now 11-18 on the season, 4-13 in the ACC, 8-7 at home, 12-17 against the spread and 17-12 with the under.
The Demon Deacons are putting up just 68.7 points per game on offense this season while shooting an awful 39.6 percent as a team. Defensively, the Deacons give up 75.9 points per game while allowing opponents to shoot 46.4 percent. Brandon Childress is leading the team with 14.8 points and 4.1 assists per game while Jaylen Hoard is adding 13.2 points and 7.8 rebounds per contest.
College Basketball Betting Trends
Florida State
The Seminoles are 4-1 against the spread in their last five road games and 6-2 ATS in their last eight following a win.
Wake Forest
The Demon Deacons are just 9-25 against the spread in their last 34 ACC games and 5-16 ATS in their last 21 Saturday games.
Prediction:
Florida State has dominated this season, winning and covering in six of the last seven meetings. That includes an 88-66 win at home over Wake on Feb. 13. While the Deacons had a strong showing against Duke this week, I think it is more of a sign of where Duke is at than where Wake is at. I expect Florida State to look sharp on the road. I don’t love a double-digit spread, but I am confident FSU can cover it.
