Can Villanova cover the 14 vs. Georgetown?
No. 3 Villanova is favored by two touchdowns today when it hosts Georgetown in Big East play at Noon ET on FOX. Are the Wildcats giving up too many points?
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Villanova is a heavy favorite at home today, as the Wildcats are getting odds of -14 against Georgetown. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 143.5 points.
Villanova is 26-4 overall, 15-2 in the Big East, 14-1 at home and 14-14-1 against the spread. Georgetown is 14-16 overall, 7-10 in the Big East, 4-7 on the road and 14-14 against the spread. Villanova has won five of the last six in this series, but the Hoyas have covered in six of the last nine meetings. Villanova picked up a 55-50 win at Georgetown back on Jan. 16, but the Hoyas covered the 7-point spread.
Who does the public like in this game?
The Hoyas could use something positive heading into the postseason, as they have lost eight of their last nine, but going to Villanova isn’t likely to solve the problems. Georgetown has gone just 3-7 against the spread in its last 10, while Villanova has won two straight since a 90-83 loss at Xavier. Still, the Wildcats aren’t a safe bet at home giving up so many points. They have failed to cover in three straight at home, all as a double-digit favorite. The Hoyas have covered in three straight games with a double-digit spread and should be able to do it again today.
