Wildcats fall versus Friars

Villanova suffered a 58-54 defeat at home Saturday versus Providence to drop to 22-7 overall and 11-5 in conference action. The Wildcats trailed 30-18 at halftime and were unable to rally all the way back. Collin Gillespie paced Villanova with 13 points on 5-of-14 shooting including 1-of-3 from 3-point distance plus 2-of-2 at the free throw line. He also registered five rebounds and three assists. Saddiq Bey tallied 11 points, three boards and two steals. Jeremiah Robinson-Earl added 10 points and 11 caroms.

Pirates take down Golden Eagles

Seton Hall recorded an 88-79 victory Saturday at Marquette to improve to 21-7 overall and 13-3 in the Big East. The Pirates led 44-35 at halftime en route to the triumph. Myles Powell led Seton Hall as he poured in 28 points on 9-of-22 shooting including 5-of-13 from 3-point range plus 5-of-6 at the charity stripe. Sandro Mamukelashvili added 26 points, nine boards and three assists.

College Basketball Betting Trends

The underdog is 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings. The Wildcats are 63-42 ATS in their last 105 games overall.

Seton Hall

The Pirates are 4-2 ATS in the last six meetings. Seton Hall is 16-6 ATS in its last 22 games following a win over a conference rival.

The Pirates will look to complete the season sweep tonight and will be heavily motivated to clinch the outright Big East crown, but Villanova will be motivated to not only play spoiler but also keep its chances alive at a share of the championship. With a tough road test on deck for Seton Hall, this certainly is not a done deal yet. I see this contest going down to the wire and the Wildcats bouncing back strong from a subpar performance over the weekend. Take the points with Villanova here.
