Big Ten Predictions: Can Purdue cover vs. Michigan in final? 3/4/18

Can No. 8 Purdue pick up a win and cover in the Big Ten Tournament Championship on Sunday, March 4, 2018 when it faces No. 15 Michigan at 4:30PMET?

837 Michigan +3.5 vs. 838 Purdue

According to oddsmakers at YouWager, Purdue is the favorite in this game, as the Boilermakers are getting odds of -3.5 points against the Wolverines. The over/under total has been set at 137 points. Today’s game takes place from Madison Square Garden in New York and will air live on CBS.

Michigan has won eight straight games coming into today, including a 75-64 win over Michigan State on Saturday. The Wolverines are 27-7 overall right now and 21-11-1 against the spread. U-M is averaging 73.6 points per game this season while allowing 63.5 per contest. Moritz Wagner is leading Michigan with 14.5 points and 7.3 rebounds per game while Charles Matthews is adding 12.8 points and 5.5 rebounds per game.

Purdue has won five straight games coming into today, including a 78-70 win over Penn State on Saturday. However, the Boilermakers are just 1-8-1 ATS in their last 10 games. Purdue is 28-5 overall and 15-16-1 against the spread. Purdue is putting up 81.6 points per game this season while allowing 65.4 per game. Carsen Edwards is leading Purdue with 18.7 points per game while Vincent Edwards is adding 14.8 points and 7.4 rebounds per game.

Bet on College Basketball for Sunday, March 4, 2018

Purdue won both meetings with Michigan this season, but the Wolverines covered in both instances. The Wolverines are playing as well as anyone in the Big Ten right now. During this eight-game win streak, they are 7-1 against the spread. Purdue has really struggled to cover and I think Michigan has a chip on its shoulder to get a win over Purdue after two close calls. The public betting is split for this game, but I will go with Michigan.
