Boilermakers snap four-game skid

Purdue downed visiting in-state rival Indiana Thursday night by a count of 57-49 to improve to 15-14 overall and 8-10 in the Big Ten Conference. The Boilermakers led 29-20 en route to the victory. Trevion Williams paced Purdue with 19 points on 8-of-17 shooting plus 3-of-4 at the free throw line. He also pulled down eight rebounds. Eric Hunter Jr. added 17 points, seven boards and three steals.

Hawkeyes down Nittany Lions

Iowa secured a 77-68 home victory Saturday over Penn State to move to 20-9 overall and 11-7 in conference action. The Hawkeyes outscored the Nittany Lions 42-34 in the second half to pull away. Luka Garza led Iowa with 25 points on 11-of-28 shooting including 1-of-4 from 3-point range plus 2-of-4 at the charity stripe. He also racked up 17 rebounds and four blocked shots. Joe Wieskamp tallied 13 points and six boards. C.J. Fredrick added 10 points, three assists and two caroms.

College Basketball Betting Trends

The Boilermakers are 1-3-1 ATS in their last five games overall. Purdue is 2-8 ATS in its last 10 games as an underdog.

The Hawkeyes are 18-7-2 ATS in their last 27 games overall. The favorite is 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings.

The Boilermakers have had a strange season, looking like worldbeaters at times and pathetic at others. It's mostly gone poorly lately, but they did right the ship against Indiana and did crush the Hawkeyes 104-68 four weeks ago. Sometimes, a team just has another's number. Iowa is not quite good enough to take this Purdue squad lightly and while I'm sure it won't, I think the strong defense of the Boilermakers rises to the occasion and makes this contest interesting.
