Bubble Teams to Watch
Every year, teams on the bubble either make it to the NCAA Tournament or don’t. Online bookie agents won’t know which teams have made the NCAA Tournament until the bracket is announced.
That’s why betting agents prepare as if every NCAA Tournament bubble team will make it to the Big Dance.
Sports bettors should keep reading to find out how bookies plan on managing 2018 NCAA Tournament bubble team risk.
NCAA Tournament: Bubble Teams
I’ve listed 3 of this year’s bubble teams. I’ve also listed each team’s current odds to win the NCAA Men’s College Basketball Tournament.
NC State 80/1
St. John’s 150/1
Kansas State 200/1
At 20 and 9 as of Feb. 28, NC State is almost guaranteed a spot in the NCAA Tournament. The Wolfpack have a great quality win over UNC.
They’ve also beaten Syracuse, Wake Forest, and Florida State. Per head agents will worry most about NC State.
Expect to see most agents set max betting limits at around $100 to $200 on the Wolfpack to win the NCAA Tournament.
TCU was ranked in the Top 20 earlier this season. Now, the Horned Frogs might not stamp their ticket to the Big Dance. TCU is a decent team, though.
If TCU does get in, they could go much further than anyone anticipates. Pay per head agents must beware of the Horned Frogs.
Max betting limits will be in place.
The St. John’s Red Storm have a horrible 14 and 15 record as of February 28. The Red Storm has beaten both Duke and Villanova this season.
Does that mean St. John’s has a shot to get a bid to the NCAA Tournament? Not likely.
St. John’s hasn’t done enough to garner a bid. Most bookmakers have decided that it’s not worth setting max betting limits on the Red Storm.
Kansas State is a different story. Although the Wildcats are on the bubble, they’re also the type of team that could make waves in the NCAA Tournament.
Kansas State has a winning 20 and 9 record heading into the Big 12 Tournament.
If they were to lose in Round 1 to Baylor, the Selection Committee might leave them out of the tournament. They should be in if they move on from Round 1.
Most agents should have max betting limits on Kansas State. Sports bettors should also note that individual bookies will pull a team, no matter the odds, off the board if that bookie has taken too much action on a single team.
