Longhorns win third straight

Texas secured a 67-57 home victory Monday night over West Virginia to improve to 17-11 overall and 7-8 in the Big 12 Conference. The Longhorns led 34-28 at halftime and kept control after the break. Andrew Jones paced Texas with 22 points on 7-of-13 shooting including 5-of-9 from 3-point range plus 3-of-4 at the free throw line. He also tallied three rebounds, three assists and two steals. Courtney Ramey accounted for 21 points, five boards and four dimes. Matt Coleman III added 13 points and two caroms.

Red Raiders stumble at Sooners

Texas Tech suffered a 65-51 defeat Tuesday night at Oklahoma to drop to 18-10 overall and 9-6 in conference action. The Red Raiders trailed 32-22 at halftime and were unable to rally back. Kevin McCullar led Texas Tech with 13 points on 6-of-17 shooting including 1-of-4 from 3-point range. He also registered five rebounds, four steals and three assists. Chris Clarke added 11 points and six boards off the bench.

College Basketball Betting Trends

The road team is 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings. The underdog is 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings.

Texas Tech

The Red Raiders are 3-3 ATS in the last six meetings. Texas Tech is 5-1 straight up in the last six meetings.

This spread seems a bit too wide for me. The Red Raiders are coming off a bad defeat, while the Longhorns are playing inspired basketball as of late and still have outside NCAA Tournament hopes but will need a very strong finish. I'm not saying Texas will win today and a loss will basically put a kabosh on its chances at a bid, but I do think it puts up a strong fight and stays within the number against a team it only lost to by a count of 62-57 at home.
