Terriers take down Paladins

Wofford earned a 72-64 road victory Saturday at Furman to improve to 24-4 overall and 15-0 in the Southern Conference. The Terriers led 39-28 at halftime en route to the win. Wofford shot 28-of-60 from the floor, 9-of-30 from 3-point range and 7-of-8 at the free throw line. Fletcher Magee paced the Terriers with 23 points on 9-of-18 shooting including 5-of-13 from 3-point distance. He also registered four rebounds and three assists. Cameron Jackson accounted for 18 points, nine boards, four assists and two steals. Keve Aluma added 11 points, seven caroms, three blocked shots and two assists.

Mocs fall at Bears

Chattanooga lost a 74-69 decision Saturday at Mercer to drop to 12-17 overall and 7-9 in conference action. The Mocs were outscored 40-27 in the second half of the defeat. Chattanooga shot 26-of-55 from the floor, 10-of-26 on 3-point tries and 7-of-12 at the free throw line. Jerry Johnson Jr. paced the Mocs with 17 points on 6-of-11 shooting including 1-of-3 from 3-point distance plus 4-of-6 at the free throw line. He also contributed three rebounds and two steals. David Jean-Baptiste added 15 points and four assists.

Prediction:

Wofford beat a much, much better Furman team that was ranked earlier in the season by eight on the road over the weekend so I can't imagine Chattanooga putting up much of a fight. The previous three wins by the Terriers had all been by double digits. With the Mocs struggling to cover spreads at home, I can't imagine their homecourt advantage improves much here. Take Wofford to extend its winning streak to 16 games and cover the spread in the process.
