Can Maryland win on the road vs. Purdue?

College Basketball Picks and Predictions 2/27/16 – Maryland vs. Purdue

No. 10 Maryland could use a big road win tonight when they face No. 20 Purdue at 4PM ET on ESPN. Can the Terps put it together away from home?

According to oddsmakers at RealBets, Purdue is favored at home today, as the Boilermakers are getting odds of -3.5 points against Maryland. The over/under total has been set at 137.5 points.

Purdue is 21-7 on the season, 9-6 in the Big Ten, 15-1 at home and 13-11 against the spread. Maryland is 23-5 on the season, 11-4 in the Big Ten, 4-4 on the road and 12-15 against the spread. Maryland has won and covered in both Big Ten meetings with Purdue, including a 72-61 win at home back on Feb. 6.

Who does the public like in this game?

Maryland isn’t earning a lot of respect for being a clutch team this season. The Terps haven’t had a real signature road win this year, and they have been a different team away from home. Maryland is averaging just 68.4 points per game on the road, which will make it tough to compete with a Purdue team that posts 81.8 points per game on its home floor. Purdue has been a bit shaky as well, but they have won their last six at home. While not overly impressive, Purdue is 7-5 against the spread at home this season while Maryland is just 3-5 ATS on the road. Look for the Boilermakers to hand the Terps another loss today.
