Terrapins' nine-game win streak snapped

Maryland fell by a 79-72 score Sunday afternoon at Ohio State to drop to 22-5 overall and 12-4 in conference action. The Terrapins were outscored 40-33 in the first half and were unable to bounce back. Aaron Wiggins led Maryland with 20 points off the bench on 7-of-15 shooting including 6-of-13 from 3-point distance. He also pulled down three rebounds. Eric Ayala contributed 16 points, three boards and two assists. Donta Scott tallied 10 points and four caroms. Anthony Cowan Jr. added 10 points, seven dimes and three rebounds.

Golden Gophers crush Wildcats

Minnesota raced to an 83-57 victory Sunday afternoon at Northwestern to move to 13-13 overall and 7-9 in the Big Ten. The Golden Gophers established a 44-28 halftime advantage on their way to the triumph. Daniel Oturu paced Minnesota with 22 points on 8-of-11 shooting including 3-of-5 from 3-point range plus 3-of-4 at the charity stripe. He also accounted for 12 rebounds and three blocked shots. Marcus Carr registered 18 points, seven assists and five boards. Gabe Kalscheur recorded 14 points, five caroms and five assists. Payton Willis added 14 points, six rebounds and three dimes.

Prediction:

This is a strange spread to me as you would think the frontrunner Terrapins would be slightly favored on the road, but it looks like some big money might be coming in on the Golden Gophers to keep this spread even. I'm inclined to take the hosts as Vegas often knows best and they are coming off a very impressive win, albeit against a weak opponent. Maryland has a cushion in the Big Ten and has a date on deck at home versus second-place Michigan State. This could be a letdown spot. Go with the hosts the get the 'W'.
