Rebels lose third straight

Mississippi lost by a score of 103-78 at home Saturday night versus Alabama to fall to 13-14 overall and 4-10 in Southeastern Conference action. The Rebels trailed 45-31 at halftime and were unable to recover. Breein Tyree led Ole Miss with 28 points on 8-of-12 shooting plus a perfect 12-of-12 at the free throw line. He also dished out four assists. Devontae Shuler tallied 21 points, seven rebounds and three dimes. Blake Hinson added 11 points in 27 minutes on the court.

Tigers get past Vols

Auburn earned a 73-66 home victory Saturday over Tennessee to improve to 23-4 overall and 10-4 in conference play. The Tigers outscored the Volunteers 40-25 in the second half after trailing by eight at the break. Samir Doughty was the lone Auburn player in double figures for scoring as he accounted for 22 points on 7-of-16 shooting including 3-of-5 from 3-point range plus 5-of-8 at the charity stripe. He also recorded four rebounds, three assists and three steals. Austin Wiley accumulated nine points, seven boards and two steals. Devan Cambridge added nine points and six caroms off the bench.

Mississippi

The Rebels are 7-2 ATS in their last nine games overall. Mississippi is 2-7 ATS in its last nine Tuesday games.

Auburn

The Tigers are 1-4 ATS in their last five games overall. Auburn is 2-6 ATS in its last eight games following a straight up win.

Prediction:

The Tigers hit a bit of a rough patch for a couple games but put together a fantastic second half to take care of business against Tennessee over the weekend. It took Auburn two overtimes to take care of the Rebels on the road last month and I expect another tough challenge tonight from the visitors. Auburn has Kentucky on deck and this has all the makings of a letdown spot. Prior to the Alabama result, Ole Miss had been playing competitive basketball over the last few weeks and I expect more of that tonight.
