Florida vs. Kentucky Pick
Who will take control of the SEC race when No. 11 Kentucky hosts No. 13 Florida today at 2PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Kentucky is the slight favorite today, as the Wildcats are getting odds of -4 points against the Gators. The over/under total for the game is listed at 156.5 points. Florida won the first meeting this season at home, 88-66, back on Feb. 4. That snapped a five-game losing streak to Kentucky.
Florida has won nine straight coming into today to get to 23-5 on the season and 13-2 in the SEC. The Gators have covered in seven of the nine wins to move to 16-10 against the spread on the season. Florida is averaging 79.6 points per game on offense this season while allowing 65.9 on defense. Florida actually improves on offense on the road, averaging 81.6 per game. KeVaughn Allen is averaging 13.6 points per game on offense while Canyon Barry is adding 12.7 points.
Kentucky has won five straight to get to 23-5 on the season and 13-2 in the SEC as well. The Wildcats haven’t been great at the betting window, though, going just 2-7 ATS in their last nine. UK is 14-14 against the spread on the season, but 9-6 ATS at home. Kentucky puts up an impressive 88.2 points per game on offense while allowing 72.8 on defense. Malik Monk is averaging 21.1 points per game to lead the team while De’Aaron Fox is adding 15.5 points and 5.3 assists per contest. He is questionable for tonight’s game with a knee injury.
Kentucky has been giving a lot of love this season, but I think the Wildcats are overrated. The Cats have seemed to struggle in their biggest games, including a loss at home to Kansas and the 22-point loss to Florida. The Gators have been much more consistent and should have plenty of confidence heading into today’s game. Even if Florida comes up short today, it should do enough to cover.
