Buckeyes ease past Wildcats
Ohio State recorded a 63-49 home victory Wednesday night over Northwestern to move to 17-9 overall and 7-8 in the Big Ten Conference. The Buckeyes outscored the Wildcats 39-29 in the second half to pull away. Ohio State shot 25-of-54 from the floor, 4-of-20 from 3-point range and 9-of-10 at the free throw line. Kaleb Wesson was the lone Buckeyes player in double figures for scoring as he totaled 22 points on 8-of-14 shooting including 1-of-4 from 3-point range plus 5-of-5 at the free throw line. He also contributed eight rebounds, four assists and two blocked shots.
Fernando lifts Terrapins past Hawkeyes
Maryland earned a 66-65 victory Tuesday night at Iowa as Bruno Fernando recorded the game-winner on a putback with 7.9 seconds remaining. The Terrapins (20-7, 11-5) were outscored 42-39 in the second half, but found a way to the win in the closing seconds. Maryland shot 22-of-53 from the floor, 12-of-28 on 3-pointers and 10-of-12 at the free throw line. Anthony Cowan Jr. led the Terrapins with 17 points on 5-of-15 shooting including 5-of-10 on 3-point attempts and 2-of-2 at the free throw line. He also tallied eight assists and three rebounds. Fernando registered 11 points, 11 boards, two assists and two blocked shots. Eric Ayala accounted for 11 points, four caroms and four assists.
College Basketball Betting Trends
Ohio State
The Buckeyes are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games versus the Big Ten. Ohio State is 0-5 ATS in its last five games following an ATS win.
Maryland
The favorite is 6-2 ATS in the last eight meetings. The Terrapins are 5-1 ATS in the last six meetings.
Prediction:
Maryland rolled to a 75-61 victory earlier this season at Ohio State and will look for another convincing win over the Buckeyes at home. Both teams play solid defense, but the difference here is in adjusted offensive efficiency as the Terrapins are ranked 22nd nationally and OSU only 68th. I think Maryland secures the season sweep handily here as Ohio State wasn’t playing very good basketball prior to beating a mediocre Northwestern squad.
