Wisconsin vs. Ohio State Pick

CBB Predictions: Wisconsin Badgers vs. Ohio State Buckeyes 2/23/17

Is No. 16 Wisconsin going to run into any trouble when it goes on the road to face Ohio State tonight at 9PM ET?

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Wisconsin is favored on the road, as the Badgers are getting odds of -5 points against Ohio State. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 131.5 points. Wisconsin has won and covered the spread in three straight against Ohio State, including an 89-66 win at home on Jan. 12.

Bet on Wisconsin vs. Ohio State

Wisconsin is coming off a nice 71-60 win over Maryland this past weekend, but the Badgers had dropped back-to-back games prior to that. They sit at 22-5 on the season and 11-3 in the Big Ten, but the Badgers have struggled against the spread. Wisconsin is just 1-4 ATS over its last five games and 12-12 against the spread on the season. Wisconsin is averaging 73.1 points per game on offense while giving up just 60.5 on defense. On the road, the Badgers put up only 69.1 points on offense and give up 68.6 on defense. Ethan Happ has been leading Wisconsin this season with 14.7 points and 9 rebounds per game while Nigel Hayes is adding 13.6 points and 6 rebounds per contest.

Ohio State has lost three straight coming into tonight, including a 58-57 loss at home to Nebraska this past weekend. The Buckeyes are now 15-13 overall and 5-10 in the Big Ten. The Buckeyes have failed to cover in their last four and are 9-17 against the spread on the season. Ohio State puts up 72.4 points per game on offense while allowing 68.8 on defense. When at home, OSU averages 74 points on offense while giving up 64.2 on defense. Jae’Sean Tate is averaging 14 points and 6.1 rebounds per game while Marc Loving is adding 12.6 points and 4.8 rebounds per contest.

This is a tough one, as Wisconsin hasn’t been great at pulling away from opponents despite having 22 wins. They have failed to cover on the road against the likes of Michigan, Nebraska, Rutgers and Minnesota. Ohio State hasn’t been good anywhere, including home, but Ohio State has managed to be competitive despite all the losses. Over their last 10, they have had all but one game decided by 10 points or less. The spread is awful small, but I have a hunch that the Buckeyes manage to cover.
