Wildcats hit 18 3's in win
Villanova rolled to a 91-71 victory Wednesday night at DePaul to improve to 20-6 overall and 9-4 in Big East Conference action. The Wildcats led 46-26 at halftime en route to the triumph. Saddiq Bey led Villanova with 20 points on 7-of-13 shooting including 5-of-7 from 3-point distance plus 1-of-2 at the free throw line. He also recorded seven assists, three rebounds and two steals. Justin Moore had 17 points, three boards and three dimes. Collin Gillespie contributed 17 points, six caroms and three assists. Dhamir Cosby-Roundtree added 11 points, seven rebounds and two assists off the bench.
Musketeers win with late run
Xavier finished the game on an 8-0 run as Zach Freemantle scored the gamewinning bucket with 10.4 seconds remaining Monday night to prevail 77-74 at St. John's. The Musketeers outscored the Red Storm 38-37 in the second half of the win. Paul Scruggs led a balanced scoring attack with 16 points on 6-of-12 shooting including 4-of-8 from 3-point range. He also notched four rebounds and three assists. Tyrique Jones contributed 15 points, 15 boards and two assists. Naji Marshall racked up 15 points, 11 caroms and five assists. Freemantle had 11 points, seven rebounds and three dimes. Jason Carter recorded 10 points and seven boards. Kyky Tandy added 10 points, three rebounds and three assists off the bench.
College Basketball Betting Trends
The road team is 3-8 ATS in the last 11 meetings. The favorite is 13-3 ATS in the last 16 meetings.
The Musketeers are 10-2 ATS in their last 12 February games. Xavier is 2-4 ATS in the last six meetings.
The Wildcats will be going for the season sweep after downing the Musketeers 68-62 at home back on December 30. The last two road wins have been against weaker opponents, but they were also decisive wins and I am leaning Villanova again today. Villanova has the much better offensive attack and Xavier has already lost three conference games at home. With the Wildcats playing so well as of late, I'd rather not fade them.
