Vols get past Commodores

Tennesee earned a 65-61 home win Tuesday night over Vanderbilt to improve to 15-11 overall and 7-6 in the Southeastern Conference. the Volunteers outscored the Commodores 37-28 in the second half after into into halftime tied. John Fulkerson led Tennessee with 17 points on 4-of-8 shooting plus 9-of-11 at the free throw line. He also registered seven rebounds and three blocked shots. Jordan Bowden tallied 17 points, five assists and four boards. Santiago Vescovi accounted for 14 points, seven dimes, four rebounds and two steals.

Tigers stumble at Bulldogs

Auburn lost by a score of 65-55 Wednesday night at Georgia to drop to 22-4 overall and 9-4 in conference action. The Bulldogs trailed 31-25 at halftime and were unable to rebound. J'Von McCormick paced Auburn with 22 points on 9-of-22 shooting including 3-of-8 from 3-point range plus 1-of-2 at the charity stripe. He also recorded three rebounds and two assists. Samir Doughty registered 15 points, four boards and three dimes. Austin Wiley added 11 points and nine caroms.

Prediction:

Two of the last five games on the regular season schedule for these two teams are against each other. Neither team is in the greatest of forms, but I'm really concerned about an Auburn team that has had a lot of luck this season and is finally showing it might not be quite as good as its red-hot start appeared. The Vols play at a slow and deliberate pace and I think the looks will be there today as the Tigers are not an overwhelming team defensively. Tennessee is decent enough on the defensive end and after losing by four last season at Auburn, I see another close game in the cards today.
