Thursday’s West Coast Predictions
It’s a big night of action in the West Coast Conference on Thursday. Here’s three picks we like for the conference.
No. 6 Gonzaga at San Diego, 9PM ET (ESPN2)
According to oddsmakers at YouWager, Gonzaga is the favorite on the road, as the Bulldogs are getting odds of -12 points against San Diego. Gonzaga has won seven straight against San Diego, covering in six of the seven. However, San Diego covered in the first meeting on Feb. 1, a 69-59 win for the Bulldogs at Gonzaga. Zaga hasn’t been great at covering lately, but they are still winning games by double digits. I don’t see San Diego having enough to keep this game competitive, so I will take my chances on the Bulldogs winning by more than 12. WCC PREDICTIONS: GONZAGA -12
Pepperdine at No. 22 Saint Mary’s, 10PM ET
Saint Mary’s faces another lackluster opponent in Pepperdine tonight. Oddsmakers have Saint Mary’s as a 17.5-point favorite at home against Pepperdine. The Gaels already own a 91-67 road win at Pepperdine on Jan. 13. St. Mary’s has failed to cover in three straight, but the lone home game in that stretch was against Gonzaga. Prior to that they had won three of their previous four by at least 17 points. Pepperdine is winless on the road and I don’t think they will have a better showing at St. Mary’s than they did at home. WCC PREDICTIONS: SAINT MARY’S -17.5
Pepperdine vs. St. Mary’s Series History
San Francisco at Pacific, 10PM ET
Pacific can get its 10th win in the WCC tonight when it hosts San Francisco. Oddsmakers have the Tigers as a 2-point favorite at home tonight against the Dons. San Francisco edged Pacific by a 2-point margin at home on Jan. 25. The Dons have actually owned this series, winning nine of the last 10 encounters while going 6-3-1 ATS. The Tigers have failed to cover in their last two home games as a favorite. I think San Francisco can steal this one. The Dons have won four of their last five and covered in the lone loss. They have a defense that can be a problem for Pacific tonight. WCC PREDICTIONS: SAN FRANCISCO +2
