Golden Hurricane get past Bulls

Tulsa secured a 56-48 victory Saturday at South Florida to improve to 17-8 overall and 9-3 in American Athletic Conference action. The Golden Hurricane led 25-11 at halftime en route to the win. Brandon Rachal paced Tulsa with 18 points on 5-of-13 shooting plus 8-of-8 at the free throw line. He also pulled down six rebounds. Lawson Korita added 10 points, six boards and three steals.

Cougars edged at Mustangs

Houston gave up the go-ahead basket with 20 seconds remaining in overtime Saturday in a 73-72 loss at Southern Methodist. The Cougars rallied back by outscoring the Mustangs 36-25 in the second half, but were then outscored 9-8 in the extra session. Marcus Sasser led Houston with 26 points on 8-of-15 shooting including 5-of-10 from 3-point range plus 5-of-5 at the charity stripe. He also accounted for two assists and two steals. Dejon Jarreau added 15 points, three rebounds and three dimes off the bench.

College Basketball Betting Trends

The Golden Hurricane are 6-1 ATS in their last seven games as an underdog. Tulsa is 6-1 ATS in its last seven Wednesday games.

The Cougars are 5-2 ATS in their last seven home games. The favorite is 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings.

This is a revenge spot for Houston after losing 63-61 at the Golden Hurricane, but this spread seems a bit too wide. Tulsa is a gritty team that has some solid wins in conference play and are generally competitive in most games it plays. Look for the Golden Hurricane to make the game ugly and take the Cougars out of their comfort zone. I'm banking on this one staying closer than expected.
