Wildcats escape Rebels

Kentucky held on for a 67-62 home win Saturday over Mississippi to improve to 20-5 overall and 10-2 in the Southeastern Conference. The Wildcats outscored the Rebels 42-35 in the second half after trailing by two at the break. Immanuel Quickley paced Kentucky with 17 points on 4-of-15 shooting including 1-of-8 from 3-point range plus 8-of-10 at the free throw line. He also tallied three rebounds and two assists. Nick Richards accounted for 16 points, seven boards and two blocked shots. Tyrese Maxey added 14 points, five caroms and three assists.

Tigers fall at Crimson Tide

Louisiana State lost by a score of 88-82 Saturday at Alabama to drop to 18-7 overall and 9-3 in conference play. The Tigers trailed 40-29 at halftime and were unable to recover. Skylar Mays paced LSU with 24 points on 8-of-13 shooting including 4-of-7 from 3-point range plus 4-of-6 at the charity stripe. He also registered nine rebounds, three assists and three steals. Trendon Watford contributed 18 points and four boards. Javonte Smart accounted for 16 points, four dimes and two rebounds. Emmitt Williams added 13 points and 10 caroms.

Prediction:

The Tigers have struggled as of late with three losses in their last four games including an embarrassing defeat against Vanderbilt. While Kentucky is a flawed team, it is also one with serious talent and I think it can take advantage of what is a very leaky LSU defense. The Tigers are elite on the offensive end, but I expect UK to match them basket for basket while making a couple more plays down the stretch to get it done on the road. Feel free to take the moneyline if are going in with enough confidence.
