Bears wins 22nd straight
Baylor tied the longest winning streak in Big 12 Conference history Saturday at home with a 70-59 victory over West Virginia. The Bears (23-1, 12-0 Big 12) led 33-22 at halftime en route to the triumph. Jared Butler paced Baylor with 21 points on 8-of-11 shooting incuding 5-of-7 from 3-point distance. He also recorded five rebounds, four assists and two steals. Davion Mitchell accounted for 13 points, nine assists, three boards and two steals. Matthew Mayer added 13 points and eight caroms off the bench.
Sooners unable to hang with Jayhawks
Oklahoma lost by a count of 87-70 Saturday afternoon at Kansas to drop to 16-9 overall and 6-6 in conference action. The Sooners trailed 41-32 at halftime and were unable to rally back. Kristian Doolittle led Oklahoma with 27 points on 8-of-20 shooting including 5-of-8 from 3-point range plus 6-of-7 at the charity stripe. He also ripped down 12 rebounds. Austin Reaves accounted for 12 points, five boards and four assists. Devion Harmon added 10 points, four dimes and three rebounds off the bench.
College Basketball Betting Trends
Baylor
The Bears are 10-3 ATS in their last 13 games overall. Baylor is 37-17-1 ATS in its last 55 road games.
Oklahoma
The Sooners are 4-1 ATS in their last five games overall. The home team is 1-7-1 ATS in the last nine meetings.
Prediction:
The Bears had trouble putting away Oklahoma on their home floor, holding on for a 61-57 win January 20. But even with a home date against third-ranked Kansas on deck Saturday, I don’t see Baylor letting its guard down here. The Bears know the test the Sooners bring from first-hand experience and the hosts have mostly struggled against top competition this season aside from a solid win over an offensively challenged West Virginia squad. I’m taking the No. 1 team in the country to keep rolling tonight.
