Kansas vs. Baylor Pick

CBB Predictions: Kansas Jayhawks vs. Baylor Bears 2/18/17

Who has the edge in today’s anticipated Big 12 matchup when No. 4 Baylor hosts No. 3 Kansas at 1PM ET?

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Baylor is a slim favorite at home, as the Bears are getting odds of -2.5 points against Kansas. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 143.5 points. Kansas won the first meeting on Feb. 1, 73-68. The Jayhawks have now won nine straight in this series, but Baylor has covered the spread in the last two meetings.

Bet on Kansas vs. Baylor

Kansas is on a three-game winning streak to get to 23-3 overall and 11-2 in the Big 12. The Jayhawks have been a mess trying to cover though. They are 0-4-1 against the spread in their last five and 7-16-1 against the spread on the season. Kansas is averaging 83.5 points per game on offense while the defense is allowing 72.4 points per game. On the road, the offense is putting up 77 points per game. Frank Mason III is averaging 20.2 points, 4.3 rebounds and 4.9 assists per game to lead the team while Josh Jackson is adding 16.5 points and 7.2 rebounds per contest.

Baylor is coming off an 84-74 loss at Texas Tech this week. The Bears are now 22-4 on the season and 9-4 in the Big 12. The Bears are 12-9 against the spread on the season, but only 4-6 against the spread at home. Baylor averages 72.6 points per game on offense while allowing just 62.6. At home, the Bears are holding opponents to 58.7 points per game. Johnathan Motley is averaging 16.7 points and 9.5 rebounds per game while Manu Lecomte is adding 12.8 points per contest.

Kansas hasn’t been trustworthy at all, but the Jayhawks are now an underdog. Kansas has responded pretty well in those role, going 2-1 against the spread this season. That includes a big win at Kentucky. Baylor is coming off a tough road loss, but last time that happened at Kansas, the Bears then struggled at home and lost to Kansas State. Kansas plays to the level of its competition, but that will help it today at Baylor. I expect the Jayhawks to cover, if not win outright.
