Hawkeyes falter at Hoosiers

Iowa lost by a score of 89-77 Thursday night at Indiana to drop to 17-8 overall and 8-6 in conference action. The Hawkeyes trailed 49-34 at halftime and were unable to recover. Luka Garza poured in 38 points to lead Iowa on 14-of-22 shooting including 3-of-6 from 3-point distance plus 7-of-8 at the free throw line. He also registered eight rebounds and four blocked shots. Joe Wieskamp added 16 points, six boards and two steals.

Golden Gophers fall at Nittany Lions

Minnesota suffered an 83-77 loss eight days ago at Penn State to fall to 12-11 overall and 6-7 in the Big Ten. The Golden Gophers trailed 36-22 at halftime and could not rally all the way back. Daniel Oturu led Minnesota with 32 points on 12-of-23 shooting plus 8-of-9 at the charity stripe. He also ralcked up 16 rebounds and three blocked shots. Marcus Carr contributed 20 points, seven boards and five assists. Gabe Kalscheur added 11 points in 23 minutes of action.

College Basketball Betting Trends

The Hawkeyes are 4-0 ATS in their last four Sunday games. Iowa is 9-4-3 ATS in its last 16 games overall.

The Golden Gophers are 10-2 ATS in their last 12 games as a favorite. The favorite is 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings.

The Golden Gophers have a lot more preparation time here, but this spread still seems a bit too steep. Even though the Hawkeyes have struggled in three straight road losses, Minnesota is not exactly the most intimidating opponent and Iowa possesses an elite offense. As long as Iowa gets more stops than it has been in recent games, I like its chances to stay within the number and perhaps even secure the road win straight up.
