Hoyas get past Blue Demons
Georgetown earned a 76-72 home win Saturday over DePaul to improve to 14-10 overall and 4-7 in the Big East Conference. The Hoyas outscored the Blue Demons 44-34 in the second half after trailing by six at the break. Jahvon Blair paced Georgetown with 30 points on 11-of-18 shooting including 4-of-10 from 3-point distance plus 3-of-4 at the free throw line. He also registered four rebounds and two assists. Omer Yurtseven accounted for 16 points, eight boards and two steals. Terrell Allen added 12 points, nine assists, three steals and two assists.
Bulldogs secure home win
Butler picked up a 66-61 home victory Wednesday night over Xavier to move to 19-6 overall and 7-5 in conference play. The Bulldogs led 32-23 at halftime and held on from there. Sean McDermott led Butler with 14 points on 4-of-9 shooting including 2-of-6 from 3-point range plus 4-of-4 at the charity stripe. He also pulled down six rebounds. Kamar Baldwin racked up 11 points, five assists, four boards, two steals and two blocked shots. Jordan Tucker added 10 points and three caroms off the bench.
College Basketball Betting Trends
Georgetown
The Hoyas are 3-2 ATS in the last five meetings. The over is 3-2 ATS in the last five meetings.
Butler
The Bulldogs are 3-2 straight up in the last five meetings. Butler is 12-11-2 ATS this season.
Prediction:
The Bulldogs already hold a 69-64 road win at Georgetown and this line is probably going to be in the seven or eight point range when released, at least by my estimates. Butler has not played its greatest basketball over the last several weeks, but the Hoyas have not played all that great against good competition this season. Butler missed covering its last game because of a meaningless 3-pointer by Xavier at the buzzer. Look for Butler to have its bettors' backs this afternoon as an apology of sorts.
