Zips blast Falcons

Akron cruised to a 74-59 home win Tuesday night over Bowling Green to improve to 18-6 overall and 8-3 in the MAC. The Zips outscored the Falcons 39-30 in the second half to pull away. Loren Cristian Jackson poured in 28 points on 9-of-17 shooting including 3-of-7 from 3-point distance plus 7-of-7 at the free throw line to lead the way. He also tallied three rebounds and two steals. Tyler Cheese added 17 points, five boards and two assists.

Chippewas drop second straight

Central Michigan lost by a score of 73-73 at home Tuesday night versus Eastern Michigan to drop to 13-10 overall and 6-4 in conference action. The Chippewas were outscored 45-35 in the second half after leading by seven at the break. David DiLeo led CMU with 24 points on 6-of-15 shooting including 6-of-13 from 3-point range plus 6-of-6 at the charity stripe. He also pulled down two rebounds. Travon Broadway Jr. registered 17 points, five boards and three steals. Deschon Winston added 10 points, seven caroms, four assists and two steals.
