Crimson Tide win overtime thriller

Alabama earned a 105-102 victory in overtime Saturday at Georgia to improve to 13-10 overall and 5-5 in the Southeastern Conference. The Crimson Tide was outscored 51-47 in the second half, but rebounded in OT to outscore the Bulldogs 13-10. Kira Lewis Jr. led the way with a career-high 37 points on 12-of-21 shooting including 3-of-6 from 3-point distance plus 10-of-15 at the free throw line. He also notched seven assists, five rebounds and two steals. John Petty Jr. accounted for 21 points, seven boards, four dimes and two blocked shots. Javian Davis tallied 13 points and eight caroms. James Bolden had 11 points, six rebounds and four assists off the bench. Jaden Shackelford added 10 points and four rebounds.

Tigers prevail in OT

J'Von McCormick hit a floater with 0.1 seconds on the clock Saturday at home to send Auburn to a 91-90 overtime victory over Louisiana State. Auburn outscored LSU 44-32 in the second half and 17-16 in the extra session to post the win. Samir Doughty paced the Tigers with 26 points on 10-of-19 shooting including 5-of-11 from 3-point range plus 1-of-2 at the charity stripe. He also pulled down five rebounds. McCormick accumulated 23 points nine boards, nine assists and two steals. Devan Cambridge tallied 21 points and three caroms off the bench. Austin Wiley added 10 points, 13 rebounds and two assists.

College Basketball Betting Trends

The Crimson Tide are 6-1 ATS in their last seven road games. Alabama is 5-1 ATS in its last six Wednesday games.

The Tigers are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games as a favorite. Auburn is 10-3 ATS in its last 13 games versus a team with a losing road record.

While this is a juicy revenge spot, the spread is wide enough to give me pause. Rivalry games are typically closely contested and the Tigers are coming off a grueling and exhausting overtime victory. Alabama is too, but it could be a confidence booster after a rough three-game stretch. This might be a letdown spot even against a rival for the Tigers after winning on what was essentially a buzzer-beater. I'm banking on a close game tonight.
