Notre Dame vs. North Carolina Pick
Will No. 21 North Carolina cruise to an easy win at home when it plays host to Notre Dame tonight at 7PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at YouWager, North Carolina is favored at home tonight, as the Tar Heels are getting odds of -11 points against Notre Dame. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 152 points. Tonight’s game will take place from the Dean E. Smith Center in Chapel Hill, North Carolina and will air live on ESPN.
North Carolina has won three straight coming into tonight, including wins over rivals Duke and N.C. State. UNC is 19-7 overall, 8-5 in the ACC and 14-10-1 against the spread. UNC is averaging 83.3 points per game on offense this season while allowing 73.6 per contest. Luke Maye is averaging 18.7 points and 10.5 rebounds per game to lead the Heels this season while Joel Berry II is adding 17.4 points per contest.
Notre Dame is coming off back-to-back home wins over Boston College and Florida State, both by double digits. The Irish are now 15-10 overall, 5-7 in the ACC and 9-12 against the spread. ND is putting up 76.2 points per game this season while allowing 68.6 per contest. Matt Farrell has battled injuries but is back and averaging 16.5 points and 5.2 assists per games to lead the team while TJ Gibbs is adding 16.3 points per contest.
North Carolina has won four straight meetings with Notre Dame, including a 69-68 win at ND on Jan. 13. However, the Irish covered in that loss and have covered in six of the last eight against the Heels. While the Irish are fighting hard despite being without top player Bonzie Colson, they have been outmatched on the road. ND has lost and failed to cover in its last four road whiles while UNC has won and covered in five of its last six at home. The public betting is slightly with the Heels and I think North Carolina will cover at home as well.
