Nittany Lions down Golden Gophers

Penn State earned an 83-77 home victory Saturday over Minnesota to improve to 18-5 overall and 8-4 in the Big Ten Conference. The Nittany Lions led 36-22 at halftime and held off a rally attempt by the visitors after the break. Lamar Stevens paced PSU with 33 points on 11-of-21 shooting including 2-of-4 from 3-point range plus 9-of-12 at the free throw line. He also registered seven rebounds and three assists. Izaiah Brockington added 10 points, five boards and two assists off the bench.

Boilermakers win third straight

Purdue earned a 74-62 victory Saturday at Indiana to improve to 14-10 overall and 7-6 in conference action. The Boilermakers led 37-28 at halftime on their way to the win. Eric Hunter Jr. paced Purdue with 12 points on 4-of-7 shooting including 2-of-4 from 3-point range plus 2-of-3 at the charity stripe. He also registered five rebounds, two assists and two steals. Aaron Wheeler contributed 11 points, three boards and two assists off the bench. Sasha Stefanovic added 10 points and four caroms.

Prediction:

Both teams are playing fantastic basketball right now, but with Penn State believing it can go into any arena and get a win I have a lot of faith in the visitors tonight. Both teams are fantastic defensively, but the Nittany Lions are better on the offensive end and that could be the difference here. Five of the six wins during the Penn State streak have been against top 50 teams and three have been on the road. This spread seems a bit too wide and I'm going to take advantage.
