Public Betting Trends

According to oddsmakers at BetNow.eu, Nevada is the heavy favorite at home, as the Wolf Pack are getting odds of -20.5 points against New Mexico. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 154.5 points. The public betting currently has 85 percent going on Nevada at home. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our College Basketball Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.

New Mexico snaps skid

The Lobos had a 3-game losing streak come to an end this week when it beat San Diego State at home, 83-70. New Mexico is now 10-12 on the season, 4-6 in the MWC, 4-5 on the road, 8-13 against the spread and 11-10 with the over.

New Mexico is struggling on defense this season, allowing 76.3 points per game while opponents shoot 45.4 percent against them. Offensively, the Lobos are putting up 76.7 points per game despite shooting just 43.2 percent. Anthony Mathis is leading the team with 15.8 points per game while Vance Jackson is adding 12.5 points and 7.1 rebounds per contest.

Nevada rolling along

The Wolf Pack are coming off a 98-82 win at Colorado State this week. Nevada has won eight straight games while covering the spread in their last four games. Nevada is now 22-1 on the season, 9-1 in the Mountain West, 11-0 at home, 14-7-1 against the spread and 13-9 with the under.

Nevada has put up good numbers on both sides of the court, averaging 82.1 points per game on offense while allowing just 66.8 per game on defense. Jordan Caroline and Caleb Martin are each averaging 19.3 points per game to lead the team this season. Caroline is adding 10 rebounds per game.

College Basketball Betting Trends

New Mexico

The Lobos are 18-38 against the spread in their last 56 road games and 1-5 ATS in their last six road games against a team with a winning home record.

Nevada

The Wolf Pack have covered the spread in five straight after scoring more than 90 points in their previous game and they are 42-20-3 ATS in their last 65 home games.

Prediction:

New Mexico handed Nevada its lone loss this season, 85-58 at home back on Jan. 5 in perhaps the most surprising outcome of the season. Nevada was just 19 of 57 shooting in the loss that game. Nevada should come into tonight with plenty of motivation to correct that loss and I would expect the Wolf Pack to not shoot so poorly on their home floor. New Mexico hasn’t been a competitive team in recent road games, so I think this one should get out of hand.

College Basketball Prediction: Nevada -20.5
