Wildcats crushed by Bluejays

Villanova lost by a score of 76-61 at home Saturday against Creighton to drop to 17-4 overall and 7-2 in the Big East Conference. The Wildcats trailed 35-23 at halftime and were unable to recover. Collin Gillespie paced Villanova with 18 points on 8-of-18 shooting including 2-of-8 from 3-point distance. He also registered four rebounds and two assists. Justin Moore added 18 points, two boards and two assists.

Bulldogs fall to Friars

Butler lost by a 65-61 score Saturday at home versus Providence to move to 17-5 overall and 5-4 in conference play. The Bulldogs (17-5-4) trailed 31-25 at halftime and could not battle all the way back. Kamar Baldwin led Butler with 14 points on 4-of-15 shooting plus-of-7 at the charity stripe. He also registered five rebounds, five assists ans two steals. Bryce Nze contributed 12 points and four boards. Jordan Tucker accounted for 12 points and eight caroms. Bryce Golden tallied 12 points and four rebounds. Sean McDermott added 10 points, seven boards and two steals.

The Bulldogs have had a disappointing couple of weeks but overall is still having a strong season and had rebounded for a while until the home setback against Providence. Butler has revenge spot here against a Wildcats squad that had their way with it in January. It should be a loud crowd backing the Bulldogs tonight and with Villanova struggling its last game, the blueprint is there for Butler to exploit. I'm rolling with the hosts tonight.
