Cyclones drop third straight

Iowa State lost by a score of 72-68 Saturday at Texas to drop to 9-12 overall and 2-6 in Big 12 Conference play. Tyrese Haliburton paced the Cyclones with 14 points on 5-of-8 shooting including 2-of-2 from 3-point range plus 2-of-2 at the free throw line. He also registered five rebounds, five assists and three steals. Rasir Bolton tallied 14 points, five boards and two assists. Solomon Young added 13 points, six caroms and two steals. Iowa State was outscored 42-37 in the second half after leading by one at the break.

Mountaineers down Wildcats

West Virginia secured a 66-57 victory Saturday at home over Kansas State to move to 17-4 overall and 503 in conference action. The Mountaineers outscored the Wildcats 36-30 in the second half to put it away. Derek Culver was the lone West Virginia player in double figures with 19 points on 8-of-15 shooting plus 3-of-9 at the charity stripe. He also racked up 14 rebounds, two assists and two steals. Oscar Tshiebwe tallied eight rebounds and eight boards. Chase Harler added eight points and two caroms off the bench.

College Basketball Betting Trends

Iowa State

The Cyclones are 0-6 ATS in their last six Wednesday games. The underdog is 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings.

West Virginia

The Mountaineers are 6-1 ATS in their last seven home games. West Virginia is 4-1 ATS in its last five Wednesday games.

The Mountaineers have been dominant at home this season as all four of their losses have come on the road and most of their home wins have been in blowout fashion. I don't see a sub-.500 Iowa State team posing a serious threat. While the Cyclones are a fairly good offensive team, they are bound to struggle against an elite West Virginia defense ranked second nationally in adjusted efficiency. Coupled with a struggling ISU defense and I see WVU rolling tonight.
