Musketeers fall in OT

Xavier lost 84-82 in double overtime at home Wednesday night versus Marquette to drop to 13-8 overall and 2-6 in conference play. Quentin Goodin paced the Musketeers with 19 points on 5-of-10 shooting off the bench including 5-of-8 from 3-point distance plus 4-of-6 at the free throw line. He also accounted for four assists and two rebounds. Naji Marshall tallied 16 points, seven boards, five assists and two steals. Tyrique Jones registered 13 points, 15 caroms and three assists. Paul Scruggs contributed 12 points, five rebounds and three dimes. Zach Freemantle added 11 points and four boards. Xavier outscored the Golden Eagles 28-22 in the second half to send it to overtime at 61-61 before the first extra session ended in a 68-68 stalemate.

Pirates down Blue Demons

Xavier secured a 64-57 home win Wednesday night over DePaul to improve to 16-4 overall and 8-0 in Big East play. The Pirates outscored the Blue Demons 36-28 in the second half after trailing by one at the break. Myles Powell paced Xavier with 24 points on 7-of-21 shooting including 2-of-10 from 3-point distance plus 8-of-13 at the charity stripe. He also pulled down five rebounds. Jared Rhoden added 14 points and 11 boards.

Seton Hall have not exactly been crushing teams lately, but they are taking care of business every game regardless. I think what helps them tremendously here is the early start time as that will certainly benefit the home team. Along with Xavier coming off a fatiguing double OT loss, the best bet here looks like the Pirates winning by a comfortable margin.
