Blue Devils take down Panthers

Duke recorded a 79-67 home win Tuesday night over Pittsburgh to improve to 17-3 overall and 7-2 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Blue Devils led 45-34 at halftime en route to the victory. Vernon Carey Jr. led Duke with 26 points on 11-of-17 shooting including 1-of-2 from 3-point range plus 3-of-6 at the free throw line. He also registered 13 rebounds and four assists. Tre Jones tallied 14 points, eight assists and three boards. Jordan Goldwire contributed 13 points, five caroms and three assists. Cassius Stanley added 11 points and seven rebounds.

Orange lose thriller

Syracuse lost 71-70 Tuesday night at Clemson as it gave up the go-ahead basket with 2.5 seconds remaining. The Orange (13-8, 6-4) were outscored 38-35 in the second half of the defeat. Elijah Hughes led Syracuse with 22 points on 6-of-14 shooting including 2-of-8 from 3-point distance plus 8-of-9 at the charity stripe. He also tallied five steals, four rebounds and two assists. Buddy Boeheim also scored 22 points in 40 minutes of action. Joseph Girard III added 10 points, three boards and two steals.

College Basketball Betting Trends

The Blue Devils are 4-1 ATS in their last five games following an ATS loss. The road team is 3-0-1 ATS in the last four meetings.

The Orange are 6-0 ATS in their last six games overall. Syracuse is 2-8 ATS in its last 10 home games.

Syracuse has had a good run lately, at least until the Clemson heartbreaker, but this might be where its ATS luck ends. The Orange struggle defensively and will be going up against the fifth-rated offense in the nation in terms of adjusted efficiency. With Duke also boasting the seventh-rated defense, I think it will impose its will down the stretch to pull away from the hosts. The Blue Devils won by 12 at Syracuse last season after being upset in overtime by the Orange at home.
