Simpson triple-double leads U-M

Zavier Simpson recorded the sixth triple-double in Michigan program history Tuesday night to guide his squad to a 65-49 home win over rival Ohio State. Simpson finished the contest with 11 points on 5-of-13 shooting including 1-of-5 from 3-point range. He also notched 12 assists, 10 rebounds and two steals. The Wolverines (20-1, 9-1 Big Ten) outscored the Buckeyes 33-23 in the second half to pull away. Jordan Poole tallied 15 points and three steals, while Ignas Brazdeikis had 14 points along with three rebounds and two steals. Isaiah Livers tallied 12 points, four boards and three steals off the bench. Michigan shot 22-of-54 from the floor, 10-of-27 from 3-point distance and 11-of-12 at the free throw line.

Hawkeyes drop second straight

Iowa lost by a count of 92-87 Sunday night at Minnesota to drop to 16-5 overall and 5-5 in conference play. The Hawkeyes trailed 55-46 at halftime and could not rally back. Luka Garza notched 25 points on 9-of-13 shooting including 3-of-4 from 3-point distance plus 4-of-4 at the free throw line to lead the way. Isaiah Moss tallied 23 points, six boards, three assists and two steals. Tyler Cook added 18 points, nine caroms and four dimes. Iowa shot 32-of-59 from the field, 10-of-18 from 3-point range and 13-of-21 at the free throw line.

College Basketball Betting Trends

Michigan

The Wolverines are 6-2 ATS in their last eight games overall. Michigan is 22-8-1 ATS in its last 31 road games.

Iowa

The Hawkeyes are 5-2 ATS in their last seven Big Ten games. The home team is 13-6 ATS in the last 19 meetings.

Prediction:

The Wolverines have the most efficient defense in the nation, which should help slow down a Hawkeyes offense that is ranked 10th. But this spread was at -3.5 and it has risen to 5. While I might have liked Michigan at the original number, the Hawkeyes are a talented team that is healthy again and are looking to break a losing skid. I think they keep this one close on their home court and keep it within the five points.
