Golden Eagles stay hot at Musketeers

Marquette won by a count of 87-82 Saturday at Xavier to improve to 18-3 overall and 7-3 in the Big East Conference. The Golden Eagles outscored the hosts 48-43 in the second half to secure the victory. Marquette shot 28-of-58 from the floor, 14-of-25 from 3-point distance and 17-of-20 from the free throw line. Markus Howard paced the Golden Eagles with 31 points on 10-of-22 shooting including 4-of-9 from 3-point range plus 7-of-8 from the charity stripe. He also notched five rebounds, four assists and two steals. Joey Hauser contributed 21 points and five boards. Sam Hauser added 20 points, nine caroms and two assists.

Bulldogs fall at Bluejays

Butler suffered a 75-61 defeat Friday night at Creighton to drop to 12-9 overall and 3-5 in conference action. Kamar Baldwin was the lone BUlldogs player in double figures in scoring as he finished with 23 points on 8-of-12 shooting including 2-of-4 from 3-point range plus 5-of-6 from the free throw line. He also tallied three assists and two rebounds. Butler trailed 40-34 at halftime and could not recover. The Bulldogs shot 23-of-58 from the floor including 5-of-22 from 3-point distance plus 10-of-15 from the free throw line.

College Basketball Betting Trends

The Golden Eagles are 1-9-2 ATS in the last 12 meetings. Marquette is 4-0 ATS in its last four games overall.

The Bulldogs are 4-1 ATS in their last five games versus a team with a winning percentage above .600. Butler is 2-5 ATS in its last seven games following an ATS loss.

Marquette isn't getting a lot of respect from oddsmakers or bettors, leading to this line where the ranked team is the underdog. The Golden Eagles haven't had a lot of success in this matchup lately, but they seem to be figuring out how to get the job done in every game lately. Butler hasn't been overwhelming in the slightest this season and I think Marquette finds a way to cover this spread or perhaps win outright.
