Wildcats get past Friars
Villanova earned a 64-60 victory Saturday at Providence to improve to 16-3 overall and 6-1 in conference play. The Wildcats led 37-30 at halftime and held off a rally attempt after the break by the Friars. Collin Gillespie paced Villanova with 18 points on 5-of-10 shooting including 1-of-4 from 3-point distance plus 7-of-8 at the free throw line. He also contributed eight rebounds, five assists and two steals. Jeremiah Robinson-Earl tallied 17 points, three boards and three steals. Saddiq Bey registered 13 points, nine caroms and two assists. Justin Moore added 10 points and three rebounds off the bench.
Red Storm snap three-game skid
St. John’s picked up a 79-66 victory Saturday at DePaul to move to 13-8 overall and 2-6 in the Big East. The Red Storm outscored the Blue Demons 45-32 in the second half after the contest went into the break tied. L.J. Figueroa led St. John’s with 28 points on 9-of-16 shooting including 7-of-12 from 3-point range plus 3-of-5 at the charity stripe. He also accounted for four rebounds and three assists. College Basketball Betting Trends
Villanova
The Wildcats are 4-1 ATS in their last five Tuesday games. Villanova is 3-9-1 ATS in its last 13 road games.
St. John’s
The Red Storm are 5-0-1 ATS in their last six home games. The underdog is 4-0 ATS in the last four meetings.
Prediction:
The Wildcats have road losses this season at Ohio State and Marquette, plus their only decisive road victory was at a bad St. Joseph’s squad. St. John’s tends to rise to the occasion at home and it will be fired up to face a top 10 team. The Red Storm play at a very fast pace and get after it defensively. I like their chances to disrupt Villanova enough and protect their home court tonight.
